Description
Bringing a new level of versatility and capability to flash photography, the Speedlite 430EX II features a powerful flash (guide number of 141 ft./43m at ISO 100) with a fast recycling time in a compact, durable body. A one-touch quick-lock mechanism makes it easy to attach or detach the 430EX II from the camera and a metal foot has been added for strength and durability. Flash controls can now be set through the camera's LCD screen on compatible EOS Digital SLR cameras. The Speedlite 430EX II is also quieter, recycle time is 20% faster (as compared to the 430EX) and since it is compatible with Canon's wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable "slave unit".

        I did alot of searching, reading, bloggin and finally I broke down and purchased this unit. I'm so glad I did. This flash is amazing. Everyone shot is perfect. I have nothing negative to say. Its incredible, we took pics in a Church in low lighting and every shot was on the money. If you are looking for a begginer flash spend the money and get this one. The $60-$100 that you think you are going to save by buying another brand of flash. DON'T DO IT. Get this flash and you will see how Amazing your pictures come out.

        Bought this flash for my Canon XTi. Great price [...]from OneCall. Main use is to take pictures of my 2 year old daughter. The built in flash could never cycle fast enough, and the shots I did get looked washed out and were accompanied by distinct shadows cast on the wall behind subjects. The 430EXII cycles fast, and by aiming it up at my white ceilings (9.5ft high) I get natural looking, even lighting. Also, I don't feel like I'm blinding my daughter by flashing directly into her eyes. The flash (with four AA batteries) is almost as heavy as the camera, so together they are pretty hefty - but I expected that from an external flash. The batteries can get worn down quickly - after a lot of shooting over Thanksgiving, I had to replace them b/c the cycle time was getting longer. Overall very happy with this purchase.side note, beware of some sites that don't specify 430EX vs 430EXII. Canon updated this flash with a shorter cycle time, metal shoe, and improved compatibility to allow it to be controlled by on board camera controls. Price difference is about $60, and reviews on the 430EX are very good - so for some buyers the extra features of II may not be worth the cost. Just wish all sites were transparent about what you are buying.
